Explosive Area Testing & Certification Services – ATEX, IECEx, UKEX, HazLoc

Equipment going into explosive atmospheres/environments, whether electrical or non-electrical, is subject to strict testing and certification regimes for most countries and global regions. The certification route for different global markets varies and we offer testing and certification for all of them:

ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU

Notified Body under directive 2014/34/EU relating to equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The certification process is undertaken to verify product construction and manufacturing compliance with the relevant standards in accordance with the requirements of the ATEX directive 2014/34/EU.

Compliance with the ATEX directive allows manufacturers to place products for use in potentially explosive atmospheres onto the European market by declaring compliance with the single harmonized procedure that is accepted across the EU.

IECEx system Equipment scheme: ExCB & ExTL

The IECEx scheme ensures products that are for use in potentially explosive atmospheres are compliant with IEC standards.

Many national approval schemes can use the IEC standards and certification as their base. Having a product approved by an IECEx CB such as EUROFINS E&E CML can be used to demonstrate significant compliance with national schemes, there-by reducing the need for extensive additional testing and assessment.

EUROFINS E&E CML Limited is an ExCB (certification body) and ExTL (test laboratory). We can assess and test your products against IECEx standards and supply you with an IECEx certificate of conformity (CoC) and test report (ExTR).

UK Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2016

Eurofins E&E CML Ltd is a UK Approved Body (No.2503) under the Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2016.

MET Mark

For USA and Canada, all hazardous location (Hazloc) equipment must be assessed and approved by a NRTL (Nationally Recognized Test Laboratory) before installation.

To demonstrate compliance, manufacturers can have their product assessed and tested by Eurofins CML (a MET NRTL site), and upon completion display the MET mark. The MET mark enables customers, end users, and the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to confidently recognize that the product has been assessed and tested by a NRTL and has been verified as compliant against the applicable standards/requirements for USA and Canada.

Ex Certification for Japan

The current Industrial Health and Safety Law in Japan requires Group II explosion-protected electrical equipment to be certified by a registered type examination agency. Eurofins CML is permitted by the Ministry of Health Labour and Welfare to issue these certificates.

Eurofins E&E CML can offer Ex certification valid in Japan without the need for further certification or review by local government agencies or certification bodies.
