Oil and fat
Integrity issues
There are four main types of oil & fat integrity issues, affecting both plant and animal origins:
- Addition of cheaper substitutes
- Addition of dyes / undeclared additives
- Mislabelling of applied processing (e.g. refining mode)
- Mislabelling of geographical origin
Potential threat to public health
The consumption of edible oils either adulterated with gutter oils is a source of potential health concerns, as gutter oil contains many kinds of toxic waste material.
Foreign fats & oils (especially highly refined ones or mineral oils) or undeclared additives may also create an allergy or toxicity risk.
To preserve Oil and Fat reputation and consumer health, monitor their integrity through analytical testing
